The preferred legal citation for Pacific Reporter when the publication began in 1883 but that citation is now defunct and replaced by P.
The phasing out of Pac. occurred in the transition between volume 273 and 274 (1929) of the first series. Indeed, the spines of most of the volumes to 273 prominently include the stamp PAC.
