The reporter was John Lilly who notes a previous publication in his title page as follows:

"Author of Practical Conveyancer."

Lilly's Cases in Assizes, as it became known, was originally presented in a single volume with a very long preface and this title page:

"Reports and pleadings of cases in assizes for offices, nuisances, lands and tenements; shewing the manner of proceeding in assizes of novel design, from the original to the judgment and execution, as well where the defendant and tenant appear, as where either of them makes default, nothing of this kind being ever before published, observations on every case, very necessary for all clerks of assize, attorneys etc."
