The first volumes were edited by James McCahon, attorney-at-law of Leavenworth, Kansas and published by Callaghan & Cockcroft of Chicago.

Official, original statement of scope:

"Reports of cases determined in the Supreme Court of the Territory of Kansas ... and several important cases determined in the Circuit Court of the United States for the district of Kansas."

Many of the opinions found in Kan. and in Kan. App.Pacific Reporter (P.), are also published in the Kansas Supreme Court and Kansas Court of Appeal decisions are now available online at www.kscourts.org/Cases-and-Opinions/opinions/.
