The online versions of the Illinois Compiled StatutesĀ is updated on an ongoing basis. As with any online resource, recent statutes take some time to be formally incorporated into the online versions of the Illinois Compiled Statutes and may only be incorporated at a later time.
According to the publisher (Government of the State of Illinois):
"On January 1, 1993 a new compilation of the Illinois statutory law took effect. The compilation is known as the Illinois Compiled Statutes. Its abbreviated designation is ILCS.
"ILCS contains 67 topical chapters arranged within 9 major topic areas. The major topic areas are Government, Education, Regulation, Human Needs, Health and Safety, Husbandry, Transportation, Rights and Remedies, and Business. The major topic areas and chapters are arranged functionally, rather than alphabetically."
