Dowl. & Ry. N.P. - Dowling & Ryland's Nisi Prius Cases (England)

Forming part of the English Reports, Volume 171 (1822-1823).

Law reporters were Sir James Dowling [for more on James Dowling, see the Law's Hall of Fame biography, James Dowling (1787-1844)] and Arthur Rylands.

While the series was current, it competed against Barnewall & Cresswell of which Holdsworth writes:

"In the King's Bench, (James) Dowling and (Arthur) Ryland strugged in vain for years to establish themselves as a co-equal authority with Barnewall and Cresswell; and at a later period the attempt of Tamlyn at the Rolls to compete with Russell and Mylne was a signal failure."
