Calif. L. Rev. - California Law Review (USA)

Volume 1 published by the School of Jurisprudence, University of California, Berkley, California in 1912.

The first article and sample legal citation:

Jones, William Carey, The Problem of the Law School, 1 Calif. L. Rev. 1 (1912)

According to the Calif. L. Rev. website as of November 2010:

"At that time the Review was the first student law journal published west of Illinois. The publication of this, the ninth law review in the country, prompted the venerable Dean Wigmore of Northwestern University to condemn the proliferation of law reviews that was suffocating legal debate."

The law school is now known as University of California, Berkeley School of Law or Berkeley Law or even, to the locals, Boalt Hall.

As of Nov. 2010, the latest issue was June 2010, volume 98 of the Calif. L. Rev., covering topics such as marriage, state budgeting and racism.
